Sport Relief Charity Run diary
Wednesday 22nd February 2012
Today, we started planning for the 12 hour Charity run which commences on Monday 26th March 2012. We sorted out our location, equipment we will use (treadmill, cross trainer and bike), and the timings, as well as other little important details.
We also made a 'things to do' list to make sure we all have a little hand in setting up and preparing everyone and ourselves for the run. Me and Liam have been given the task to send out emails to the head teachers, sport teachers, IT department, sport centre and caretaker. Because I attended my first lesson, I was able to hear all instructions and carry out my tasks effectively without missing vital parts of information.

Today, I started my first training session in the weights room. I was on the cross trainer for this session. I went for 30mins non-stop on level 8 with around 80rpm.
I turned up on time and with kit, although I forgot to bring any kit with the Culverhay logo on.
I started off with a 5 minute warm-up, then continued with the 30min run. Because I turned up on time for this lesson, I was able to start on time which will have a positive impact on the event as the training will pay off. I was reliable in my time management as I was on time and started after a warm-up.

For this lesson, I was on the treadmill, although after 5 minutes, the treadmill stopped and I had to do the rest of the 25 minutes on the bike. I turned up on time for the lesson, so I was able to train for the full 30 minutes. Even though I did do the 30 minutes it wasn't all at once, so my training was effected because of this. Also, because of this, my performance was let down, although I did show good attitude in getting on the bike straight away and starting straight away.

Today, Me and Liam were rushing around school because we had to follow up our emails to Aquaterra, caretakers and IT management. First of all, we went to reception and tried to ring Aquaterra, but no one was answering. So we decided to ring them in our own time, which showed my attitude to get it done and make sure the whole thing ran smoothly.. After that, we went to see both caretakers (luckily they were together) about the opening of school, and they told us to see the other caretaker Paddy and that it should be fine. Finally, we went to IT management and asked Dan Copp for the cameras, and he said it was fine. This shows that my self discipline is high.Wednesday 7th March 2012
Thursday 8th March 2012
Today, I started getting some sponsorship money from friends and teachers around school. This shows that I am disciplined and determined enough to get things done on my own.
Monday 12th March 2012
For this session, I was on the cross trainer and the treadmill. It was a double session. For the first session on the cross trainer, and was on time and I had the right kit. I was reliable in my session as I turned up on time and got straight on with it.
Thursday 15th March 2012
In this lesson, me and Liam had to email Bath Chronicle and see if we can get our challenge into the paper. After we did this, we had to check to make sure that we had done all other emails and preparation for the event. I was taking responsibility for learning as I did it without the teachers help and me and Liam had to work together.
Today, I did a triple session. I had to start at 8:00am (but the teacher didn't open up until 8:14am), and did a 30 min session then, as well as 2nd period and 4th period. After this, I had to get ready for an assembly with my public service group. We were explaining to KS4 pupils what we are doing on the day. I was one of two people who actually read a slide from the PowerPoint. My personal presentation was excellent as I showed up in smart shoes, trousers and shirt.
Tuesday 20th March 2012
Today, I was given the task by my teacher (along with everyone else in my class) to complete at least 8 30 min sessions by the end of the week. We had to do 10 for a distinction. I have done 4 today, so I only have 6 to do in 3 days. This helps my self discipline because it will show I am disciplined and determined enough to complete the runs myself without any help from teachers setting us specific times. I had the right attitude to complete these and my personal presentation was good, like the other sessions.
Wednesday 21st March 2012
Today, I have done 2 sessions. My time managment was good as I evened my sessions out across the day and did one in the morning and one in lesson time. In the morning, I was on the cross trainer, and in lesson time I was on the treadmill. This shows my self-discipline is good because I got on the cross trainer in the morning without being told.
Thursday 22nd March 2012
Today, I did another 2 sessions, this time both on the cross trainer. One in the morning and one during a free period. This helped my self-discipline because it shows I can work on my own and without supervision or being told.
Friday 23rd March 2012
Again, I attended 2 sessions today, which totalled 10 sessions since we were set our target of 10 for a distinction before the week ends. This time, I did one on the treadmill in the morning, and one on the exercise bike during a free period. This shows my self-discipline, and attitude, is good because I did it independently and forced myself to.
MONDAY 26TH MARCH 2012
Today was the big day, the day of the charity event. We had to be in school by 4:30am, ready for a 5:00am start. I was on first, and we had to do 8 turns each on the three machines.
The order I did it in was; treadmill, cross trainer, exercise bike, treadmill, cross trainer, exercise bike, treadmill, cross trainer. Each turn was 30 minutes long with an hours rest in between. We all finished at 5:00pm, although my last turn finished at 4:00pm. As well as us doing this, we had spin bikes set up in the room next to us for people to come in, pay 50p and ride for 5 minutes. To add to this, I raised over £50 on my sponsorship form. This all helped my self-discipline, because I was able to get the training done (mostly on my own), get up early on the day and complete all 8 turns. I thought my performance on theday was excellent as I never gave up.
I showed good self discipline during the whole task as my personal presentation was smart at the assembly's and sporty when training and on the day. Also, I was punctual as I turned up to all the training sessions and on the day which is a distinction standard. My time management was good as well as I turned up on time when I need to, which shows good self discipline. Also, I we were given 4 days to complete 10 30min runs. I completed these as my time management and self discipline was good. I was reliable as I attended and did my individual jobs when I needed to. As well as this, I attended every lesson which shows I am disciplined enough to turn up. My performance, and attitude towards the sessions on the day and during the course of the weeks leading up to it was to a distinction standard as I lways tried my hardest and never gave up. I contributed a lot to activities surrounding our run as I had to send emails around the school and sport centre to get everything sorted, like email pupils to make sure they know about the event, and the sport centre to ask about machines. I also showed good self discpline in taking responsibility for learning as all work I didn't do in lesson (like this diary and some emails), I did in my own time, as well as some training sessions.

ReplyDeleteYou have made a very good start to your diary. To gain your distinction you need to add the posters from around school, photo's, powerpoint presentations used in assemblies and anything else that may add value.
